looks like a suppresor for the coil as when some electrical devices with a coil that energises and collapses with a strong magnetic field create interference either as noise or to some delicate electronic hardware working alongside it. its basicaly just a diode connecting the posi and negi terminals and is a safeguard to the electronics.
you will find this on items such as strobe beacons , contactor coils , and think even inside your standard relays ( obviously on a much smaller scale. id just tie it onto a bracket or something with a cable tie if possible, dont tie it to the ht lead.
