Re: 2005 Grand Scenic Parking Brake fault
Mines started doing that recently and after taking it to my Renault dealer, I was told the brake computor and rear caliper needed replacing (£750 +).
They disconnected the auto handbrake to allow it to be driven but when I came to move it yesterday the parking brake is stuck on and the braking fault is permanent
It would seem that Renault simply pulled the emergency release in the boot to release the brakes, and now with they've re-attached themselves.
Look in boot for yellow tee shaped handle, about three inches long. Maybe covered by a red cover.
Give it a good pull, you should hear quite a solid clunk as the cables disconnect.
Careful the car does not roll when you do so.
Renault are basically quoting for complete parking brake system. Chances are it's a sticking cable but the cables aren't available from Renault.
There are some threads with links to people who refurbish your motor unit and to people who can build cables using yours as a pattern.
