Re: My Renault Clio has no red zone in the RPM counter.

Hi there and welcome.

Some cars have red-lines, and other's don't.

(My AMG has no red-line, and the rev-counter has numbers up to 8000 - but there's no way it would pull that; nor would I even try to).

More than likely, the same gauge was fitted to many other models, with different engines; some cooking, some very sporty. Rather than order multiples of the same item (which adds cost), they will have ordered just one type, which is what you have. (the same applies to your speedo, which may well read to 150)

It won't rev-naturally to 7000, the car will most likely have a rev-limiter to protect the engine. However, downshifting into a low-gear at a high speed, will overwhelm the limiter. (please don't try this to see if I'm correct - I am)

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
