The new warnings ABS etc could be but the brake was there following the work.
Maybe seperate problems but could be related as the ABS system also has bits on the wheels.

As I said before, the brake could have just lost it's way electronically and needs the codes clearing.
Maybe a specific fault that a diagnostics can pinpoint.

Really do suggest you get the motor back into them and get them to put the diagnostics back on. If only to prove that the problem isn't of their making.
Ask them to humour you.
