Thanks Micky, confirmed my thoughts.

I tend to discount the throttle in these sort of issues in the belief that it would affect other items, loss of power and the like.
Grateful if you could confirm the belief ?

Doesn't the Auto look at the gear selection switch as well? Manual certainly does and wouldn't expect the auto to release on throttle alone?

I haven't got the indepth knowledge I would like on these, tends to be inspired guesswork and knowledge gained after I got a little annoyed with Renault service guys telling me their diagnostics can fault find down to resistor level but it almost always comes down to replacing the EPB unit.
I've been fault finding on complex equipment all my life and to me that simply says we do not understand the kit, can't be bothered or Weeee, lets make lots of money from a punter we can fleece.
