Assuming that your brake works elsewhere I'd suggest straight away going for a diagnostic.

Units have a slope detection system internally and apply the brake power needed for that slope, a bit like you'd give an extra tug to a manual system on a hill.
They release when the conditions for release are met which is partly based on how steep the slope is (and throttle and clutch position) Same as you do on a hill start.
Steeper the slope, more power needed before the thing lets go.

It maybe that the things confused and needs a reset.
Could also be that you are being a little gentle with it.
When I got mine I seemed to be kangarooing a little on hill starts trying to work out where/when the handbrake would release. Soon got used to it and these days just pull away and let the thing do what it wants. Seems to work.
