If it's a wheel bearing it will generally become louder when cornering.
Best to take the car into kwik fit type place for a check but if you prefer check for yourself..
Jack the offending wheel off the ground using the jack points mentioned in your vehicles handbook.
With the wheel still attached to the car hold it at both the 12 o clock and 6 o clock positions + wiggle it back and forth to check for wear or movement.. Do this again with your hands at 9 + 3 o clock..
Obviously make sure the car is not going to tip off the jack..
