The originals if memory serves were V4 2 litre and easily gave the lotus and twin cams a run for their money. Later versions had the V6 Essex stuffed inside and were beasts. Better then the Capri V6 if only cos they cornered.
The Essex engine was a beauty though it does seem ridiculous that similar power is readily available in far smaller engines today.
Mine ended up over bored, big valves with high lift cams and oversized carbs. Wanted to go for quads but never sorted an inlet manifold. Dunno what the final power was but the rev counter was on steroids and could wheel spin In gear changes up to fourth.
Wrote it off trying to leave a flyover at 70 in the wet. Not clever.
