immobiliser fault

since i bought my car i have had a problem with the central locking. today it wouldnt work at all so i rang renault and they told me a new key is 125.
If it's not the key then a diagnosis and a replacement ignition barrel or ECU would cost even more.
Has anyone experienced similar problems or got any suggestions on a cheap alternative? I was thinking of getting a new barrel and key from the scrappy and swapping the metal part from my key with the new key. This way i think i could not have to change my door locks and stuff as i think i only need the electronic part.

Any ideas??
