Hi Gonescenile, and thanks for your reply.

I'm obviously not explaining this very well at all, sorry.

The cable which is connected to the car itself is absolutely fine. There is no problem with this cable whatsoever.

The only problem is that I cannot attach this cable securely to the battery.

The reason for this is that there is a cap on the cable with a thread (which is fine), and a copper (I think) screw cap which bolts onto the battery terminal, allowing the thread to catch and screw on. It is this copper part which is busted (looks rusted and a bit has broken off). Therefore, the negative cap is screwing on, but not very tightly, and the metal connections are not touching therefore knocking the circuit out when I try to start.

What I need is a copper part to fit onto the battery terminal, with a thread on it which will allow me to screw the negative connector onto the battery.

Does this make sense, or am I still explaining this really badly?
