When you say the coolant is being spat out of the header-tank, do you mean in synch with the engine from cold or just when it reaches running temperature?
If the first, it sounds like it's a head gasket to me.
If the second, it is normal for some coolant to be released through the overflow if you have over-filled it in the first place.
Check for any
residue/petrol smells in the coolant or ask a decent garage to check the condition of your coolant.
You can always take them a sample in a little jar and hope they don't tell you it's pregnant.
