Re: Electronic Handbrake will not auto release
Pulling the emergency release disconnects the cables
They can relatch on simple manual application or may need "forcing" by switching on ignition (hold start button for about 10 seconds until dashboard lights up, without pressing any pedals) then using manual release and holding the centre button and pull handle for about 10 seconds.
However, with electronic fault message and seeming failure of the handbrake, it's probably best to get a diagnostic unit plugged in.
Doesn't have to be a main dealer but make sure that the diagnostic unit can communicate properly with Renaults. Many can't.
