What is also quite significant about this period of vehicle, is that it was the first mainstream use of ecu 's and other modules, etc.

This takes repairing them out of the realm of the diy'er (who tends to own older cars), and back into garages.

And whilst the cars may be worth less - fixing them is more expensive than ever.
