I think you'll find that Franchises will tell you that it will cost £x00 to change the circuit board that provides the backlight. If you're good with a soldering iron, you can first check if it amounts to just light bulbs that aren't lighting and if they are ok, go over the obvious solder-joints with low-voltage soldering iron.
My start-button light (Laguna) didn't light so I took it apart to change the bulbs but found them to be OK; so I put it together again and everything worked (and still works) fine.
