megane diesel injection fault warning light

Hello all. I have an 05 megane 1.9 dci130. Over the last couple of weeks the engine has sounded slightly rougher and a warning light has come on saying 'injection fault...stop' 3 times. If i turn the engine off and restart, it doesnt come on again until i accelerate fairly hard. The last time it happened the engine cut out. Having restarted the car the warning did not come back on as i kept the revs low so managed to get home. Any ideas as to what the problem may be...anything other than fuel injector pump death and 2k to repair? Would it be worth my while using a local small garage and their diagnostic equipment or is this a job for renault diagnostics? Thanks in advance for your replies and time given.

Re: megane diesel injection fault warning light

Sounds like you may have a fuel injection pressure problem or possibly an EGR valve problem.

As long as the garages diagnostic kit is compatible with Renaults they should be able to read the faults. It may also be worth coinsidering a diesel specilist.

Re: megane diesel injection fault warning light

Made a little progress with the problem after having diagnostics done. A code 319 came up as the only fault but the garage didnt know exactly what it was as it is a code peculiar to renault. All the mechanic could tell me was it was something to do with rail pressure fuel regulator function...open circuit. He thought it most likely to be a sensor rather than the fuel pump itself. Could anybody help with what the code 319 is exactly? Thanks for the previous reply to my original question, very much appreciated.
