Will a 1.9 dti turbocharger fit a 1.9 DCI

My 2003 DCI turbo has given up the ghost.

While searching for as cheap a possible replacement I noticed how similar the dti and 2003 dci turbos look. Obviously one is VNT and the other the conventional waste gate but beyond that I'm not sure.

The inlet looks identical.

I have two concerns. 1)Will the cat of the DCI mate correctly with the outlet of the dti one if the downpipe part is removed. 2) will the actuator foul anything as its in a different place.

Has anyone any experience on both cars?

Any help would be appriciated.

Don't judge suitability by looking at pictures on-line as many advertisesr just use any pic to portray what they are selling.

You'll need to match the make and serial number to be certain as they vary quite a bit depending on the bhp of the engine.

There is a vast difference in performance between the conventional and variable nozzle or blade type especially at low rpm.

Thanks for your response madnoel10

I am not that experienced in turbos. In my head I had decided that amount of boost would be controlled by the wastgate actuator which inturn buy the ecu and sensors. I thought if anything I would lose at the top end.

I used to own a dti before the dci and think I could live with a slight performance drop.

Will it actually fit though?

Whilst it may physically fit it's internal and external control systems are different.

Renault have a habit of changing turbo types across the same model so it's best to stick with what is original.

I know you are right about me sticking with the original and I may yet, I've put an offer in on a couple.

Are you at all confident that the dti one would line up bolt wise?
