I've just spent the last hour reading similar cases on clio owners losing power, but nothing that resembles my case. Wonder if anyone can suggest something?
I have a Clio 1.5dci, 70k miles (54 plate)
change, new battery, glow plugs, timing belt and tensioners (done early Jan 2011) - Fuel filter changed 10k miles ago.
When driving, as I get to around 67mph and 2,500 rpm I notice a drop in power (feels like its missing one of the cylinders) and the glowplug/heater light pops on. The light goes off, if I press the clutch and take it back to low revs, but if I drive back up to the speed again - it pops on again and there is a loss of power.
I can keep driving the car no problem, but it doesn't pull nearly as well as it did before the light comes on and it takes much longer to get up to speed on the motorway.
I took it into my local diesel garage who had the car for the whole day, they were unable to repeat the experience, but I see the light everyday I use the car.. doing 70 mile round trip on the motorway.
Error codes they were seeing 1078 and 1004 and they said this was an 'unknown'
I've noticed its drinking a little bit more fuel than normal, but haven't seen any smoke.
Having spent £600 getting all the work done on it in Jan, I'm keen to try and find out the problem.
Should also note I had the
valve replaced about 2 years ago too.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
