Recently bought a 2001 megane 1.9 dti and there is a light on the dash that i believe to be the glow plug light.I checked all the plugs with multimeter and 1 plug was bad so i just changed hoping this would knock the light off but it still stays on.
Has anyone have an ideas what else it could be,i have cleaned egr valve.
The glow plug light doubles as the engine management light and it is indicating a fault in the system somewhere. You really do need to have the fault codes read with a Renault specific scanner/code reader to narrow down where the fault is.Any decent independant garage should have the right equipment to be able to do this for you and isn't expensive and should only take a few minutes.
Had it plugged in today and it came up as egr valve,i have since cleaned the valve and housing but still the light is on,seems like a new egr is needed.
Can you add your engine code these ren dti's 1.9 early models had a vacuum controlled egr via a solenoid valve some later models are electronically controlled and has a 6 terminal plug attached. either way i would be inclined to do further checking before
replacing valve Hth Regards Mickeybo
Can you back probe terminal 6 on egr plug at key on the signal return wire to ecu pin no 71 voltage at key on should be approx 1v At engine idling should be approx 1.6 v's if valve is fuctioning properly Hth
