Renault trafic 1.9 dci 2006 poor starting in morning

Hi all,
My van (1.9 DCI 2006)has recently started playing up when the engine is cold be it 6 hours or 12 hours of not being used. Once you have bumped started it and got it going it is fine and you can start stop all day long but left for a while it becomes a problem. Having to keep parking on hills is proving difficult. The engine is turning over strong but will not fire. Dont want to start using easy start as i have heard that can cause long term damage. Anyone got any ideas before i go to the garage.

Thanks charlie

How old is the battery?
I just ask cos the majority of my poor starting problems on both petrol and diesel have been due to a worn out battery, even if it showed green/tested ok/had the power to turn the engine till start.

thanks for the reply, ive tested battery, was unservicable so put new one in- still same problem in the mornings, new glow plugs & tested-all ok, changed all filter's- but still same problem!

really strange, starting to think maybe its a fuel issue, like fuel is drawing bk or somethin

thanks
