Hi to everyone who is looking at my first post on this forum and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
I have researched this problem through the forums and have come up with a lot of possible soloutions and answers but I need to see if anyopne thinks the same.
I bought my 04 Scenic 1.5dci about 7mths ago and it had a smoking problem then, It would start to smoke 'white smoke' and a fair bit when driving but mainly only in higher revs, one day I decided to give it a blast up a local country lane and after a mile or so it cleared up completley! I had put a bottle of valve oil sealer in the engine a week or so before that to see if it would help but only after this blast did it clear up.
After having done the blast out and cleared up the car would only tend to smoke lightly if, stood running for any length of time before pulling away or on first start up, but it would then clear up 25 metres down the road..
A guy at my local garage said it was the turbo and took some of the connecting pipes off around the turbo and they were all caked in oil, he said the turbo oil seals were probably just weeping enough in certain positions to cause the smoke.
I wasn't sure as the the car never smoked when it was running only when stopped and started again, and there is no lack of power at all. So I cleaned the EGR valve which was covered in carbon as best I could and kept it with the minimal amount of smoke coming through the back and left the turbo..
Now the strange bit!! The car went for it's MOT a few day's ago and passed on it's emissions :jawdropping: and needed just minor jobs to pass altogther.
However due to the new mot testing where the car has to be left on the machine for so long the build up of the oil when I piucked it up was so much that when I came to drive it away you could barely see anything behind and it was even doing this at low revs unlike before. The guy at the garage said he was sure it was the turbo passing oil ???
I'm due to take the car on a trip at the end of the week and can't drive it with the smoke coming out as it is, my question was ''how do i clean the oil out?'' if possible, before going on the trip and is everyone in agreement with the turbo being the issue?? The mechanic said the oil would be gathered in the exhaust, but how do i clear that without driving and blasting it out as this time it's really bad I'll get pulled over!
Sorry to be long winded but I thought it best to let everyone know the full story.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
