Hi, can anyone help, I have a 2002 Renault Master 2.2DCI converted to a Horsebox, this is a hire vehicle for our company, it broke down whilst on the M25. When the bonnett was lifted it had dumped all of its Oil over the top of the engine, (as if the oil filler cap had been left off but it wasnt), the only fault my mechanic could find was a glow plug that had become stripped and was loosley sitting in the bore hole, other than that no other leaks or problems could be found, we have filled the engine back up with oil & have had no apparrent problems since, but I still need to get the glow plug re seated properly. Could the glow plug of been the cause of the engine to lose so much oil in one go ? or does anyone have any other ideas as to how the engine could lose all 7 lts of oil for no reason as its driving fine now, but I am very hesitant to let out horsebox go back out on hire again incase the same problem arises.

The 2.2 Dci engine has history of dumping it's oil. The most common cause being a failed inlet manifold gasket whereby the turbo assiisted inlet air is forced into the engine crankcase. Engine oil will be forced out if the dipstick and any other oil seal around the engine. In many case this destroys the engine - just hope you have caught yours in time. I would not recommend the vehicle be driven until the fault has been found and rectified.

Hi
I have a 2.2 dci with oil over the top of the engine, spontaneous loss of power and oil dump. Renault tell me the turbo pipes have a habit of collapsing too. before I start to dismantle is there any obvious tells as to your suggestion?

point being if the engine is toast I might as well pull it out and put in a newbie if its just the oil feed or return or a gasket change this would be obviously preferable.
