Hi
We had the Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique 2004 looked at today by a main dealer on a bonnet catch recall.
Of course they then "did us the favour" of looking over the car and presenting us with a visual health check sheet with repairs "required" to the value of £684.86.

Now I'm not one to hand over £30.77 to have a rear wiper blade replaced so obviously I will do that myself. But what I am after guys is some information and help to identify what parts the dealer is referring to when they say “Lower Engine Mount” and “Near Side Front Top Mount” in relation to Steering/Suspension.

They state the “Lower Engine Mount” is split and the “Near Side Front Top Mount” has play. Any photos, Renault part numbers or links to parts on eBay would be most gratefully received.

On eBay I have found some that specify they are a “rear engine mount”

And others that look pretty much the same thing are specified as “Lower Rear Gearbox Engine Mount”, but with a Renault part number of 8200155207

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-RENAULT-CLIO-1-2-16V-99-05-REAR-GEARBOX-ENGINE-MOUNT-8200155207-/251153684119?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ARenault%7CModel%3AClio&hash=item3a79ed1697

They both look to be the same thing to me!

Also the only thing can find in the Haynes manual is in the gearbox section and is called the “Engine Rear Mounting Link” and it looks like the one with the part number 8200155207.

Then there is another design on the other end of this link and seems to be called a dog bone quite a lot.

As for the “Near Side Front Top Mount” I have had no joy at all.

Thanks in advance.

Take your car and drive.

The bonnet catch recall, is only the catch being cleaned and greased, so it locks and moves freely. Old rusted/dirty ones got stuck and never locked, resulting in the bonnet opening up at high speeds.

As for the mounts, aslong as your engine isn't jumping around your engine bay when you rev it, its fine.

MOTs are for this, 600 and odd quid for a look around seems opportunistic.

Proceed with care.

Rear engine mount is called dogbone . It is not that expensive and easy to replace. The other top mount is under the battery tray. I can't believe that they spent time removing battery and ancillaries to just check that mount. What a rip off.

Hi & Thanks for your input guys! Rest assured I was never planning to accept the Reno boys kind offer to lose weight in the wallet department. I was more into finding out what they were talking about and having a look at the weekend.

If needs be I will visit my lovely friendly motor factors who give me discount, done thermals and surgeons gloves and sort it out myself.

Thanks again. :d

Hi Guys
I decided to front the Reno guys up and phoned them told them I wanted some feedback on their report and parts numbers and prices. I was surprised that they were actually quite courteous and compliant to my requests. Ultimately the lower engine mount is Reno part number 82 001 55 207. £31.93 + Vat!

And the upper suspension mount is the below at £38.12 + Vat. for one side
