got a renault megane coupe 1.4 16valve and has a misfire changed plugs and a couple of coils took it to renault they said its the cat of all things, anybody got ideas feedback would be appreciated.
Ok then, what I would do is check for any leaks on the intake side of things, check vacuum pipes for leaks also as that would cause misfire and poor idle. If you can't find any visible problems with the hoses and pipes then I would look at the fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump as there might not be sufficient fuel pressure entering the engine. Also your injectors might be cacked up or faulty. So many things but if you start with the easiest then you might catch it before you have to spend any more money. Hope this helps:d
Hi Peter, it might be worth replacing the other coil packs just to eliminate that side of the ignition fault you're getting from the diagnostics. Also is your car overheating? Maybe the temp sensor is giving the ECU dodgy readings and screwing up the fueling?
