Is there a lot to taking the splash guard off the bottom of the engine?
In your opinion as a Renault Technician is it advisable to change the oil at this early stage - car has just done 10,000 miles mainly long motor way routes - or could this give me grief soon? I work on the logic it won't hurt to do now, but the engine sounds so quiet when warmed up suggesting that the oil still has good properties of protection.
Is there anything else you would advice changing at this point in time?
I run my car mainly on German Autobahn and I change my oil every 30.000km, the Renault Service Interval. I replaced the Oil, when the car was 5000 km old, but I would not do this again.
If you drive many short trips you better change the oil early.
Hello Webcode, sorry to trouble you but if i change my Scenic II Dci oil from 10w40 semi to 5w40 are there any things that i should/should not do ?? Many thanks Damian.
Yes they have on this model.. However you would have to remove the cover anyway because when you remove the oil filter you will loose a fair amount of oil. As it is the filter is a pain to get at..
I want to do my first oil change on my 99 1.9dci RX4.
looking in the haynes manual it instructs you to prior to restarting disconnect wiring from the stop solenoid on the fuel injection pump, insulate it or remove the relay & turn the engine over a few times to prime the oil filter & put out the oil pressure light.
looking at the fuel injector pump there are 2 connectors, the one which I think is correct looks like a relay & the other is connected to a cylindrical part of the pump.
Is it necessary to do this in peoples experience & if so can anyone help me identify the correct part to disconnect.
Hello Paul, just done an oil change in my 2004 Scenic 1.9Dci and i just started the engine as normal, in my opinion it cannot be any worse than if you leave your car overnight. Regards Damian.
I'm told by Renault with a a dCi engine you need wait 15 minutes after the the oil change, for all the oil to bottom out in the sump.
Then before starting the engine you need also prime the oil filter, I guess you need disable the ignition and prime the oil filter using the starter.
Also make sure you don't overfill with engine oil, I'm told this is very important, but Renault did manage to overfill mine by about 5mm on the dipstick. Dipsticks.
Hi there, new to this forum, have just inherited my dads 2005 (55) scenic 1.9 dci (with DPF), im going to service it, Renault and many motor factors are saying it's a 5w30 dpf (low ash) oil, but I have seen a few posts saying to use 5w40? Can you shed any light on this and is there much of a difference in the oils?
