P2299 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Circuit
DF082 Stop Light Switch Circuit Open Circuit

I deleted these codes on my Ethos thinking they were old, but they have come back
Anybody enlighten me as to what they mean in English or how to fix them.

Many Thanks
Ralph

Do they delete again ? Or are they permanent now?

First thoughts have to be that your throttle pedal switch and brake pedal switch are faulty. So logic says that your engine won't rev or has flat spots and your brake lights are dead.
I assume that's not the case??

Morning DD,
They do delete again but, i didn't delete yesterday, as it's gone in to Renault today for the Auto gearbox check, I asked them to see if they see the same codes & what they mean.
I put the DF082 code into the Forum search & it came up with a post from someone with a 'Master' van - same code but different problem - low pressure pump relay circuit.
My brake lights are working fine & i have no lights on the dashboard, Reving is ok, i do get problems but they are gearbox related.

Cheers Ralph

Right, just got a phone call back from Renault, they reckon they have been testing it all day  bloody hope not at £90 an hour - the gearbox fault is either the clutch or clutch actuator. They are waiting to hear back from head honchos at Renault as they had one like this before & need to know exactly which bit has gone. so keeping it another day.
Those codes i was on about in #1 post
P2299 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Circuit was from Engine
DF082 Stop Light Switch Circuit Open Circuit was from transmission

Which sorta defies all logic.
Why in the world would a stop light fault of any description come from the transmission

Or is it another case of a dodgy fault explanation from a third party reader ?

Good luck lad. Does that they are phoning Renault mean a warrantee repair ?

Morning to you both & thanks for your replies.
DD - my 3 month warranty ran out 1 Feb this year
RW - There is no 'Park' on quickshift gearbox (see photo)

Just before i purchased this van, i looked at a Black 2.5 Vivaro, it stank of oil inside (mechanics van with racking in back) but, everything on it had been replaced, tyres, gearbox etc. he only wanted £5K cash for a quick sale because they did'nt drive it enough to warrant having it. It's now for sale through a dealer.

Just after i purchased this van, i saw a long wheelbase one same spec as mine, advertised in Essex, absolutely mint with low miles but had gearbox issues. £7K
Moral of story is - you get what you like & want at the time.
I spent as much as i could afford on this van £10K+ but it does'nt mean it won't jump up & bite my wallet.
I've only had it nearly 4 months & out of the 18 cars/vans this is the newest i've owned.
ROOF RACK etc. £290
REAR TYRES £90
OIL CHANGE £45
AIR HORNS £10
AIR FILTER £8
CABIN FILTER £8
HEATER DIALS - BULBS £2
AIR CON CONDENSER & RECHARGE £205
STOP TAIL LIGHT BULBS £3
INJECTOR CLEANER ADDED £4
N/S & O/S SLIDING DOOR WEATHER STRIPS £20

Options - sell it as is, keep it & pay another £2k for gearbox repair, burn it :d

Anybody want to buy an 'Ethos'
- only been slung across the room once  - JOKE

I picked up my Trafic this evening after Renault having it for 3 days, they replaced the 'Accelerator pedal sensor' & erased stored fault codes.
Drives lovely now smooth through the gears, pedal is abit stiffer at the top though.
Got home & just checked to see if codes had gone with 'ethos' & low and behold
P2299 Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Circuit
I deleted it & went for a drive round the block & it's still deleted - bit strange.
Maybe they had not deleted it.

..keep an eye on it though..
I would keep an eye on it - if i still had it !
I sold it yesterday for the same price i paid for it.
I would rather enjoy my van instead of worry about what's going to go wrong with it.
IMO what is the point of having 'that' tool if Renault just turn round & say "well, we need to check for ourselves & it will cost you £90 + the cost of the part + labour.

I may of been abit hasty in buying it & getting rid of it, but can always buy another one mate later-on, main thing is, i know snap on works well & without having a laptop, my choices are abit limited.
I need my van everyday, so my time getting my van fixed - is money lost, if i fix it, that could be double that money lost if i screw it up. :d

Nah dont trust half of the buggers..still rather do my own plus I get the enjoyment of getting black upto my arm pits in oil..

Last..:d
That's the other point of view and mostly agree with it.

I enjoy doing my own but these days, grovvelling under a car in a blizzard doesn't appeal as much as it used to :d
Never trusted garages which is unfair to many decent ones out there but too many horror stories.
Find a good one..treasure them. Worth their weight in gold.
