Hi All,

I have a quick question regarding removing the engine cover to access the air filter, I am going round in circles on the internet as there is contradicting information!

This is the same engine that I have.

My question is do these torx bolts (red arrows) have to be removed to pop off the engine cover, or are these irrelevant?

And to access the airbox/remove engine cover further, do I have to undo the jubilee clip and disconnect the breather pipe (blue arrows).

Any more information or tips would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Firstly I have done this a few time before but I will do it again..answers to your questions..torx bolts only need to be removed once the cover/airbox has been removed..to remove the airbox/cover your firstly need to remove the air intake pipe..at the front slam panel left hand side squeeze the pipe together and pull from the panel..this will then let you remove it at the other end at the air box..next undo the jubilee clip holding the throttle body to the air box and pull off the hose just above that going into the airbox both at the top right hand side..now grab the airbox at the left and right hand sides and pull up off the mounting points and while doing this push to the right to disengage the airbox from the throttle body..remove the airbox/cover from the engine..air filter size is 361x81x59 approx ..does differ with some manufacturers slightly..IIRC it was a T25 torx to take the filter cover off the airbox..might be handy if this was made a sticky post for further reference..

Just want to add that the procedure and the engine cover for the Clio II with engine code D4F722 (circa 2004) are exactly the same as shown in this video. The only visual difference is that the air hose on the D4F722 is fabric (gets dusty) not plastic and connects to the car near the battery box.
