Here at my sisters today having a look at her scenic 1.6 that suddenly refuses to start,it behaved as though it was running out of fuel before it died.
The engine as spark, fuel pressure and signal to the injectors the plugs are wet.
Im unsure if this engine as a camshaft sensor,my thinking now is to measure the crankshaft and camshaft sensors with an oscilloscope.
I've checked the crankshaft sensor for any rubbish build up, but its clean.
I cant find a camshaft position any where on the engine so I might be missing something, reading in the forums apparently some engines don't have them.
Where would the camshaft position sensor be?
I think the Crankshaft Sensor should be changed. Tis the most common failure, along with checking the wiring. Yes you have a spark, but is it occurring at the right time? Olden days, one would put a timing light on No1 to see when it sparked. Can't do that on these. Unless you know better?
2002 engine isn't VVT, therefore no Camshaft Sensor to check.
Worth also checking the Valve timing, hope it hasn't slipped.
As your scenic runs on siemens Sirius 32 system. I would start by checking out ecu pin no's. At key on you should have a 12v feed at the following ecu pin no's 39 should have a 12v feed key on or off. The following pin no's must have a 12v feed at key on Ecu pin no;s 1~29~30 ~ 32~66 ~68
Ign coils 1 & 4 go to ecu pin no 32
ign coils 2 & 3 go to ecu pin no 1
They get their 12v feed via fuel pump relay
I would start by checking at ign coil no1 gearbox end at key on the 2 terminal on this marked 1 & 2 no 1 on this should show 12v's this voltage then travels to ign coil 4 then on to ecu pin no 32
& same check from ign coil 2 to ign coil 3 to ecu pin no 1. Ecu pin no's 1 & 32 are switched earths for the coils to activate can you further check & post back
I get the feeling the immobilizer is giving troubles, not allowing the engine to start.
It doesn't add up with their being spark and fuel.
A friend as mentioned having a global scan performed using Renault clip, any body in the south yorkshire area who has access to to clip willing to pop in in and have a look for me.
The freeze frame data for the one code p0505 show the engine was still in open loop at 78c which is odd,and the longterm fuel trim was 9.4 and short term o%.
Air and coolant temperature with live data are showing the ambient temperature correctly
