Yeah espace IV 53 1.9 dci 140,000 miles . It had faulty vacuum pump had gunk in filter. Recommended engine flush. Which it had. Started to smoke on ignition and moving off cold. But that's died now and not so noticiable last few days
Using a good amount oil. Getting puffs of air through sump up the bottle as you can see.
Was hoping it was blocked crankcase breather or pcv valve. But im guessing it's going to be piston seals with the chugs air not sure why smoking so much tho that was after a 1.5 mile run (light traffic town driving) parked up for hour and then 1.5 miles back to work. So not really mega hot.
About 3 times it has belched out a smoke screen while on dual carriageway with a quick dip in power. Apart from that it only smokes noticably on ignition/ moving off cold. Had my brother follow me no real smoke driving only very slight on gear changes.
Smoke is white like in video (could be light blue can't tell) but not black.
Power is good not hesitant as I can tell turbo is doing is job. Car reports mpg of 35+ for motorway driving and 25 for town
Car can smell hot/oil burning after driving.
Although smoke has died down and smell in past few days. After trips it would have. It did smell on and off before flush but no smoke
Reason I vacuum pump changed was brakes failing and no dead acceleration (wastage) after that ran and still runs good just this smoke issue and oil consumption.
Had bottle of before flush looked clean. With pipe should I be able to easily blow air up it by mouth. It take it I should have no resistance in bottle either.
Not burning all the oil this is over night 12 hours. Back of engine. Guessing it will leak more engine running due to pressure. Could account for some of if not most of oil loss. But not smoke in video.
Could blocked breather cause oil loss like this even overnight?
does the engine oil return to the sump fast enough ie the head is not blocked with gunge and the return galleries are blocked,,have you had it running with that top hose off to see if its forcing oil vapour out of there,,engine is not running hot is it ,,,can you hear the cooling ran kick in ,,,,,as for the oil leak,, if its off the turbo and its hitting exhaust ,then that would explain the smell,,would check where oil leak is in case its being forced out under pressure when the engine is under load
Oil that has gone on cardboard is near turbo area but my car is parked on slight up hill and car leans to that side to due to road. So any oil may run along pipes/ parts before it drips down. Not sure how much is from pressure and taking time to drip and how much is from leaking when parked up. Going to try to get it on some ramps on Thursday and see where is coming from.
How can I tell if the oil is returning fast enough.
Only time I've had top pipe of when running has only been for short time on idle. Should drive it it off? How would I know it's giving of vapour?
Temp seems ok no overheating car warms up over time and always settles at 5 bars on temp gauge. Fan works fine never noticed it not spinning. You can hear it wind down when getting out of car.
not had smoke from back today and it's been driven a bit. Going to check oil level tomorrow in work car park as it's flat and I park in same place so I can get a good comparison reading. If it's gone down considerably and I'm not burning it through engine im guessing I'm losing it externally under pressure somewhere as the amount I lost overnight ain't gonna account for it
