clio 1.5L diesel fuel pressure regulator location

I have problems with starting 2006 1.5 dci 50kw clio engine, so I checked the ECU with my diagnostic tool. There I found a trouble code "P0089 fuel pressure 1 regulator performance".
Though, I'm not exactly sure where it is and how should it look like. Could some of you nice folks here help me out a bit and give me some pointers where to start at?

On the front of the engine follow the pipes from
the injectors you will see a flat round thing thats
the common rail , I think but not 100% that the pressure
regulator or at least the sensor for it is fitted in the
lower half, first thing I would do is check that all
the electrical connections to it and the pump are
clean and tight.

Thanks for a quick reply I followed your advice and found something like this:



Is this the right part? It has an electrical connector in the lower half as well.

I have another crashed clio as donor car, where I can take some parts when necessary, but I just want to be sure where the problem lies, before changing anything.

Yes the sensor is the thing on the bottom with
wire going to it, at least I think it is, the regulator
again I think is in the pump it's self, be very careful
when working on this as the pressure is very high,
give it time to drop if you have had it running.

fuel pressure sensor is on the fuel rail at front of engine, IMV valve (pressure regulator) is on the back of the pump, (brown connector)both are pretty reliable, more likely to be a faulty injector or even fuel pump, check the return flow from the injectors by removing the return pipes and plug them, fit clear pipes to the injectors, something like washer piping, run the engine for a short period, I cant remember how long exactly but around 10 secs, see how much fuel is in the clear pipes, if the injector(s) is faulty it will show up as lots of fuel when compared to the rest, or there may be very little return flow, this also could indicate a fault, worth while removing the fuel filter also and drain it into a clear tub after a shake, look for metal filings through the fuel, if there is more than about 1 cm sq then the pump is breaking up, unfortunatley this means replacing the entire fuel system as the metal will damage any new components fitted.
