Thanks, this is a 1.2 petrol. I have gotten as far as removing the air box. Do I need to remove the inlet manifold as i cant access the injector rail beneath it.
As far as aware yes,..
Someone will confirm..
Spray around the injectors, with some penetrating oil, where they push, are held into the inlet manifold, as you only want to change one injector...
When going to refit, smear some grease around the rubber seal/o ring, not to much. This will allow them to push back in, without using to much force.
Thanks, the main issue I have is accessing the fuel rail, I have removed the air box and engine cover but still cannot get to them. If I undo the 2 torx screw is this all the is holding the inlet manifold on. Also I read you need to depressurise the fuel pump?
Inlet manifold will have more than 2 pins holding it on.
8 valve or 16 valve,, what year, might be able to see one, to have a look at.
If you fill your garage in, you will get replies from people with the same engine.
I managed to remove all the parts I needed to but the replacement injector hasn't arrived today as it should have been, is it okay to leave in parts over night. I have half reassembled with out bolts to prevent anything going in oil.
Also this happened when reassembling....
I had plugged the battery back in previous to lock the doors, I was resting the inlet manifold back where it came of and I smelt and saw smoke coming from the starter motor?
I disconnected the battery straight away, what could have caused this as the keys werent evening in the ignition?
Something must have touched the large terminal on your starter motor, as you moved everything to close the bonnet...
Move everything from under your bonnet, place them in the boot in a binbag, or even two bin bags...
Does that mean I would have shortened the circuit? Thanks again, helpful as ever. I have put them back in for now as I was paranoid about a bit of grit or dirt getting into the engine.
Build the car back up first, before you try and find a problem....thats not there
You wont be the first, or the last... but would be unlucky if you have done any damage.
Starters can take a lot of stick,
Cheers mate, appreciate the optimism. Was just worried to plug the battery back in incase in started smoking again. The starter got so hot I have a blister on my finger from touching it lol.
