Hi everyone, I'm new to posting here,so I hope this finds the correct slot and reaches the right wizard!
I have read on previous threads about kangoo and clips having an in tank fuel lift pump within the sender unit.
I am having problems with my 03 plate van starting again and following my wife having filled it up with petrol three weeks ago, the situation has got much worse!
I don't hear any sound from the tank when I first turn on the ignition and on removing the pipe from the filter unit there is no fuel flow either.
I have done all the usual checks
No voltage at the tank connector
No pump running when 12 volts is applied to the sender unit
(12 volts applied to the thicker two wires out of the four terminals)
Took the sender unit out and there is NO PUMP, two blank tabs where I had been sending my 12 volts to!
Where else might my pump be? Please

The DCi's don't have a pump the high pressure injection pump
is the only pump on the system except for the hand priming pump
but if the hand primer has a leak or sticking ball valve the car can
be difficult to start. If it ran for any lenght of time with the petrol
if could be the injection pump but make sure the hand pump is
working correctly.

Check the glow plugs, there is usually some air in these systems it come
from the injector bleed back, but first thing I would do is make sure that
one way valve in the hand pump is working.

I use the hand prime pump each morning as it pumps one way, however this does not prove the one way valve, but it does push the air around and back up the return pipe to the tank.
Another point I might mention, when I accelerate beyond 75%, I get three warning lights:- STOP, Glow Plugs and the EMU light simultaneously. A guy where I work suggested that this may be due to fuel starvation not satisfying the High Pressure Rail? any ideas?

These 1.5 dci's was never fitted with a in tank low pressure pump. But were fitted with a transfer pump (suction pump) which sits on the rear of the high pressure pump, All hand held primer pumps has to have 2 valves 1inlet & 1 output to operate. The primer pumps are only there mainly for after filter replacement to aid suction pump This can easily be checked out with the aid of a mity vac hand pump

With an earlier suggestion of fuel starvation, tonight I have fitted a new fuel filter (incase the last one was blocked) and the hand primer seems to be working fine and afterwards the van started with no real problems.
I guess tomorrow morning will tell when I try to start it from cold.
Thanks anyway so far for all the ideas, I'll keep you all informed.

Yes, but that would be air from tonights work.
Meant to add first thing in the morning,,

Have a look through your rear screen on cranking,
But still check your primer pump. first thing,,,,

Push in fittings on the filter by any chance?

Reason I ask is that the O rings that seal these can harden with age, letting air in and fuel run back to tank.
The result being that bu55er don't like starting after being sat a while.
Aftermarket fuel filters can also suffer from similar but because the seals are wrong size.

Yes, all fittings are O rings, Can the O rings be replaced or do the pipes need to be replaced?
I ask this as I feel the air may be entering between the filter and the HP Pump as working the hand pump drives air back to the tank and leaves the pipe solid with fuel, but after a short time there is air in the pipe to the HP Pump.

Regarding any smoke, there was none tonight when I eventually got it started, but there may have been some at 5:30 this morning but we had used Easy Start to get me to work
Thanks

They can be changed, but with you mentioning issues at speed, ALSO cold starting ( Left overnight as such ) are you able to perform a leak of test on the injectors, before you go any further......

I am an Electrician, I can ask around at work as we have six fitters and four of them build their own performance cars, but otherwise I'll need to take it to someone who specialises in this type of thing.
I do have a Clio 1.5 dci which I intend keeping the engine from, are the injectors compatible?

If its fubar, then you have a choice of getting it repaired, or checking your clio injectors can fit,.
If you get it repaired, then your ecu will not need recoding with the injector code the donor injector codes will need recoding to the ecu....
this is just to eliminate an injector issue, but if it is injectors, it will save you lots of time trying to eliminate other parts,
If more than one injector has failed, make sure you put a small scratch or scratch marks to indicate which cylinder you have removed them from...
I usually do the marks with a dot punch, just above the pipe connector.
