Scenic I No revs above 2000 newbie help

Good Morning! I have looked on the forum for a similar problem but since I am new to this it's possible I have missed it. If so, if someone could point me in the right direction or help with this issue I would be very grateful!
2003 renault scenic I fidji 1.6 petrol.
In a nutshell: car running fine, pulled over and on re start wouldn't rev above 2000 or pull above 25MPH. Took to garage and they thought it was the throttle sensor and replaced to find same issue, saying ECU not reading any fault/difference and that it could also be a wiring issue. they said the ecu could be faulty and the labour to trace the wiring fault if there is one also expensive( I think they just don't know what the problem is) but since the car cost me 600 and it could cost 300+ to fix, did I want to halt the investigation.
I cant justify that kind of cash as it will already be a bill of a couple of hundred knowing this garage (couldn't get to another one safely) but if I wanted to spend the time fault finding myself, what could I look for?
Don't want to waste the vehicle if it can be saved, any help appreciated!
Many Thankshttp://www.renaultforums.co.uk/image..._smile_big.png

Re: Scenic I No revs above 2000 newbie help

HI There, im not familiar with petrol scenics but on the Diesels, a common problem, believe it or not is the brake pedal switch. The ECU will not show a fault, neither will an OBD reader unless you know what to look for. The problem is that if the ECU thinks the brake pedal is pressed at all, it will limit the revs on heh engine to prevent you from accelerating with the brakes on. It is common for the pedal switch, which has 3 contacts, has slipped in its mounting. Simply Push the pedal all the way down, grip the switch, above the pedal, and push it forward towards the bulkhead. Then let go of the pedal and let it find its reset point. Failing that take the switch out and test it using a multimeter, to see if both sets of contacts are working.

Re: Scenic I No revs above 2000 newbie help

So, Mother had broken hip! now, in hospital but settled...back to car.....currently in garage still but will ask them to look at the pedal switch. I don't think it stuttered above 2000 it just seemed as though it didn't want to go above there however much gas I gave it , in fact after trying to rev, then release it seemed to go lower , eg 1500 but will try and get back from the garage and see what I can see.
Thanks for your help so far folks!
