Hi all, I'm having a problem with misfires, I have a 2010 meg 3 1.4 tce, with torque running and watching misfires I'm getting anything from 1-10 misfires on each cylinder from cold start up, wether at idle or pottering around, once warmed up if I restart the car I may get only 1 or 2 misfires. No Lights on dash or anything, can hear a slight burble from exhaust but I don't know if that's down to the centre silencer delete? When driving on m'way no misfires at all :/ I'm stumped my self, wether it's a vacuum leak or something else I'm not sure, I've had new sparks in, oil change, all sensors cleaned up to no avail, could I possibly be running a bit too lean? Pre cat o2 oscillates as it should (I think?) after cat o2 sits steady around 0.2 when on m'way, short term fuel trim seems a little strange to me fluctuating at anything from 0v - -10v but I think that's down to tuning box, is there anything i can be watching to maybe check fuel injectors and so on, thanks for your time
I haven't no, I thought with them working alright at speed o thought they'd be okay? I've unplugged each one whilst running and they all make a significant change in revs, that means their okay doesnt it? They do look a little dry though, do they need some sort of grease on the ends?
Does anybody suggest maybe cleaning injectors out and replacing o rings? I'm have same symptoms as (http://injector-rehab.com/shop/tsclean.html) what's described here, id just need a little guidance on how to remove them from the car thanks
Leave injectors alone, you have a misfire..
Check your spark plugs, see what colour they are,, then either post a picture of your spark plugs, or do tinternet search, Spark plug colour will tell you a lot of whats wrong,,, sounds like your cam sensor ,,, but that is my thoughts
Yes, two sizes of sockets, well 3, but think Renault only use two, yours should be a 16mm spark plug socket,, not very expensive.....
Can get a good enough socket set with this included, for around 15/20£.
Cheers mate I've got a draper socket set so that's sorted it has a 10mm spark plug socket but that won't even fit down the hole I've took a pic although not a brill pic and it looks like the head has Been fitted wrong and not lined up with the holes properly I'll post the pic, let us know what you think, am I being thick or is a 10mm spark socket bigger than a normal 10mm socket?
It looks as though the rocker cover? Has been of in the past and been put back on wrong, like the whole rocker cover is shifted too far to the left of the engine
Look at the pics.
There is the rocker box, an alum ring then a dark ring.
Beneath that you can see the head of the spark plug.
That dark ring, what is it ?
Is it softish, rubber ?
There are cases on here where people have pulled off high tension leads and left the end in the spark plug hole, then have to fish them out with a bit of bent wire.
There's no rubber or anything stuck in the spark plug well its clean, that dark ring above the spark plug head is what's stopping the socket going in the well, that's where the gasket between the block and cover is, here's a different pic and a pic with how far my socket goes in
Read post above yours, you have the 3rd spark plug size, (excluding the oddball sizes, that get put in)
14 mm across the flats, your socket,if you measured it across the flats, that is 16mm
The other size used on cars, are 13/16ths, across the flats..
Not a clue, the link I gave was for the spark plugs fitted in YOUR car,,
Did not read full description, just size across the flats.
If your spark plugs when taken out ,, are new, dont replace them again.
Post a picture, stating which plug came out of which hole/cylinder.
Idea of the forum is, to stop you spending money...
I'll pick up a smaller socket tomorrow and take them out for pics, they've only done a thousand miles or so, so yes I would say there new lol thanks for all the help so far I'm hoping this will cure my other problem (separate thread) which your trying to help me with too
Did you keep coil packs in the same order, if only removed one, can you keep each coil, to each plug,, Dont clean spark plugs until you have taken pictures, even if oiled/dirty. take out and photograph ...
