1.5 DCI Engine stop light

Hi all

So my Clio has recently developed a problem, there is a loud noise and slight vibration, that feels like its behind the pedals. This only happens when I'm only going above 60mph and accelerating, If I accelerate hard from 60-90 I get an engine warning light with the word stop in the middle, if I take my foot off the accelerator the light immediately goes out. I can slowly accelerate upto 90 and the light will not come on. This only happens when I accelerate hard.

I have taken it to my mechanics and they said the code it's giving is either the glow plug control module or the EGR valve, wondering if anyone could take a better guess as to which one it is given the symptoms, thanks.

Car is a Renault Clio 1.5 Dci 2006 reg

Thanks for any help

Re: 1.5 DCI Engine stop light

Both EGR and Glow plug errors may bring up the engine management light but not the Stop warning.

This is summat else IMO though surprised an error code has not been logged given the stop light came on.

As Ralph says, what sort of noise?

Not going to ask what you are doing at 90.... presumably on a private airfield

Re: 1.5 DCI Engine stop light

Yeah sure private airfield, lets go with that haha

The noise sounds like when the engine revs but constant and loud, if that makes sense. And it only happens in 5th gear when I go above 60mph

An error code was logged I believe as thats what they said the code meant when they had the computer plugged into the car, that the code meant either the EGR valve or the Glow Plug module needed replacing.

The fault doesn't interfere with the drive or power or anything, the car is perfectly fine to drive.

Re: 1.5 DCI Engine stop light

Is the oil level ok? your description makes me wounder if
you have a crankshaft bearing going, if you know a good
mechanic let them hear the noise see what they think,
or maybe record it and post on here.

I may be total wrong but it may be a good idea not
to drive it quite so hard till you find out what it is.
