Has anyone else had problems with the Renault Master with a 3.0 dci engine (Nissan) what a lemon. All parts on 10 day back order in 60k has had new injector pump, new engine, various turbo pipes in all in the last 10 months it has had 14 weeks off the road awaiting parts the longest period was from the middle of July to the 2nd week of September (Injector Pump) followed by 5 weeks for a head gasket.

Back on the road again after the egr pipe that had broke away has been replaced under warranty by Renault. This part was in stock at renault France and takes 11 days to get from France to Oxford. Am I mistaken is France just across a bit of water from Dover or has it moved ?

After having two 2.5 Masters and experiencing similar problems with both (i.e. Gearbox and Injector replacement needed at less than 2 years old : 190,000 km ) I am considering the 3.0 version. Perhaps parts availability would be better if it was badged Nissan Interstar ?

Hi Courier,

I have had a Master with the 2.8 engine and i could not fault it, I did 230k in it and apart from a recon injector pump at about 180k it never let me down, I had no gearbox problems that seem to be common on the master.

I know of another person who bought a 2.5 and it has been relitivley trouble free except that when it went in for a service at 36k he was advised that it needed new pads in about 10k and after 100 miles it was on the metal and ended up having new discs and pads all round.

It seems that it makes no difference on who's badge is on you cannot get the bl**** parts. The garage I used to use is split down the middle, one end is Renault and if you walk in the other end it's Nissan but they cannot get the parts every thing for the 3.0 litre is back order.

Also it was due for a sevice at 72k and the 3.0 litre does not have a cam belt to change I was quoted £550 for a service and that was if they found nothing wrong with it.

I went elsewhere and had change from £175.

Go with a Merc stay away fron the Master.
