I was on the way to my girlfriends house today when i began to hear a really loud squeaking and a smell of burning rubber from the engine.
I pulled into a garage nearby as soon as i could and they reckon it could be the cambelt.
Now as far as i know, i didnt think cars would even start if the cambelt had gone?
I know they turnover but dont start.
My car still starts now (after being towed to my gf's by an AA man) and he recommended starting it when it cooled down completely.
He said if it started its most likely the water pump seized, is the water pump connected to the cambelt on a clio mk1?
Also am i right with the cambelt information about the car not starting if it snaps?
thanks in advance,
Ashley
