Hi All. I'm having a bit of a problem with my car - recently it's started to make what I can only describe as a whirring noise.
When I set off, there is no noise, and then I reach approx 20mph and the whirring starts (really quiet at first) and the faster I go the louder it gets. By the time I'm @ about 50mph the whirring is probably on par with the noise of the engine.
I've driven around with my clutch pedal pressed fully in and the engine back to idling at 500rpm and as long as I'm doing enough speed, the engine still whines as it would if I was driving as normal.
The sound appears to come from the rear of the engine just off to the left and is really irritating, but doesn't seem to affect the performance of the car.
The car is a Renault Clio Dymanique 1.2 16v with 61,000 miles on the clock.
If anyone has any idea what this could be I'd appreciate suggestions. Last time the car was sick, I had allsorts done to finally get to the bottom of that particular problem (it needed a new throttle body) and I'm sure my local garage would be as usless this time as they were last time.
