My poor kangoo 4x4 is dead.

I was travelling home from leeds to middlesbrough when the engine began to spuriously rev on its own and make this "tappety" rattling noise. The frequeny of this became more and more untill i stopped for some road works. The engine began to rev up to the redline and would not stop. I took the keys out but the engine still revved. I got out and watched whilst smoke began to pour out of the bonet. after about 20-30 seconds the revs slowly died and the engine stopped. The AA man told me the turbo had gone.

As yet I dont know the extent of the damage as i've been away over xmas and new year. I hope the engine isn't cooked but I'll have to wait and see.

Is there anyone who knows where the best place to look for reconditioned turbo's (or maybe new engines too)

Its an ex royal mail, 55 plate, kangoo 4x4 with 84k miles on the clock. Any help would be fantastic and much appreciated.

The worst thing was I'd just spent 400 quid on getting the prop shaft fixed and a timing belt and tensioner ordered. The previous day too, the rear callipers seized so i need to get them replaced too

Matt

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in my opinion but as the engine was reving its head off it was actually running on its own lubricating oil and as it was left to its own devices it only stopped when there was no oil left in the sump. The only way to stop the engine in these circumstances is to stall it in gear - that's assuming it ain't an auto.
In all probability the engine has seized or been seriously damaged - not good news by the looks of it as repair cost could well exceed the value of the car.:)
