Having problems with air in my fuel line , changed the fuel filter and new seal , tried bleedin the system but still air in system. It gets worse beside the priming pump then the line taking the unused fuel bak to the tank is really bad , any one got any ideas ?

Hi, edd.

I've just solved a power-loss problem with my 54 plate 1.5cDi Kangoo. At first I thought it might be a fuel filter problem, because I saw a fair old bit of air in the fuel lines.

I'm wondering if this is your situation?

My problem actually turned out to be a fault EGR value.

My apologies if this reply seems utterly off the mark!
However, if power-loss is your problem, then I'm happy to share my little bit of knowledge!

Cheers.

Guys I have just taken off the airflow sensor, it the gray plug one closest to the passenger side on the intake pipe, started the van and its driving 100% again.

I read on the forums here I have the same engine as a 1.5dci clio and they have the same issue so I following instructions and hey presto it working.

Good luck folks many thanks

Hi Edd,
there is a one way valve in the priming pump, this comes attached to the fuel line as one and runs from the tank to the fuel filter housing, not an easy diy job as you might have to drop the tank to get at it, i have seen these replaced only to find the air is still there, thats only one poss. cause and one i would leave till last. Firstly i would try the fuel runoff pipes on the injectors as these are more likely to cause poor tickover and cutout after first startup, these are cheaper and easier to replace than the fuel line, the runoff pipes are very fragile and great care should be taken when fitting. Does it only cutout when you first start and then keep running, or does it cutout even when it has warmed up?

Hi, edd.

Should it ever turn out to be diagnosed as the EGR valve, then changing it is a piece of cake. In my case it was just two 10mm nuts (top side), and one 10mm bolt underside. Undo these, having first disconnected the electrical connector, then simply pull the EGR valve out of its housing. Done! Replacement is just as simple in reverse order.

Please let me know if you need more help.

Cheers.

Hi,

Sorry to hi jack your thread, but I have a similar problem to you. 1.9DCi starts, runs for a couple of seconds and then dies. It will start again after about 7 or 8 attempts, however, if I press the priming bulb a few times the car starts and runs perfectly well (until the car stops again)

I'm also a bit stuck. Any ideas?

Hi, Smokey.
I'm far from an expert in these matters, but just a few years ago I had similar symptoms to you with my Frontera. It turned out to be a perished Leak-Off pipe. The replacement pipe set wasn't expensive to buy from Vauxhall, and the job itself was simple to do. This was a common problem with Vx Fronteras at the time, so diagnosing the problem wasn't too difficult.

Guys I took my eEFG Valve out and cleaned it, was not bad only 80K on mine 04 plate. I have air in fuel lines goes grand over 3000RPM but below it just drives with low power. Am going to try and blow the fuel back into the tank and then re pump it in, hope it works doing my nut in....
