hello to you all
ive recently done a timiming belt and wp on one of my worksvans and it went bang!
i'm a qualifiefied ata mastertech and done plenty of belts before so i'm abit stumped.
the van in question timed up all ok and i used a genuine kit and gates locking kit from work too using data from autodata 2009 belts, it ran but had airlock.the fools road tested without bleeding out and it went bang.
anywho long story but all i could find is the woodruff key had broken off the camshaft and the tensioner was off?

ive spoken to renault hudds and they say they see this all the time and always replace the camshaft pully wheel when over 100k?

that right or wrong?

very very puzzled as rolled round by hand and pins went back in freely with top dot (tooth) and crank locking tool lining up perfect

engine started first time n ran at all rev ranges and then i left for the muppets to bleed up as i got another job to do.

Any assistance would be greatfull but please no jokers - just serious help please

regards

yeah thats right mate when i orderd my kit from renault they asked what milage and advised the camshaft pully as they have a habbit of rounding off. just one of those renault things i guess. ford have the same problem on the new focus rs it likes to throw the cam shaft pullys over a couple of teeth i think its been fixed now though but renault have a habbit of avoiding problems like this as ''thats never happend to us before'' sorta thing.

Requirement for fitting brand new camshaft pulley when renewing timing belts does not apply to all F9Q engines. Applies to F9Q 780 for sure. I assume it is only camshaft pulleys where the key is integral to the pulley that has to be renewed.
