Changing injectors on a Clio MKII

Hi Guys,

My clio has been juddering a lot recently on idle, I narrowed it down to a misfire on the fourth cylinder. The leads have been checked as well as a compression test on the cylinder in question and no problems seem to have arisen from them. I took it to a mechanic and after finding out the above, he said it is probably a faulty injector. I think this makes sense as I have read on this site that if it was the coil , 2 cylinders (first and fourth) would be misfiring together.

I have bought a 2nd hand rail + injectors for an X reg (mine is V) and I was just wondering whether the injectors could simply be swapped? I know that the ECU sends a signal to the injectors, but will it cause more problems if I swap them or should it work fine?

A second option I have thought of is to remove all 4 injectors that are in the car and get them ultrasonically cleaned. Has anyone done this before and is it any good or just another gimmick?

Any help at all is appreciated.

Re: Changing injectors on a Clio MKII

swapping all the injectors should be fine but you must swap all 4 as they should be flow matched from factory.and unlike the dci injectors they dont need to be coaded by renault.

second of all no ultrasonic cleaning isnt a gimmic i had mine done on my track civic type r and they work perfect now but its not cheap and i think there are only a couple of places that can do it i used abp motorsport to do mine and i belive they sourced it out to a company in derby.

If the injectors are not coded and I don't know if they
are then you could try swapping the bad one over with
one of the others see if the miss moves with it.

Who would design a vehicle that falls over when you stop?

Re: Changing injectors on a Clio MKII

Have you swapped the coils around?.If not,I'd do this before getting involved in changing the injectors.

If the coils check out OK,then you can swap either one or the complete set of replacement injectors you have.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
