Re: Electronic parking brakes - is this a possible fix?

Certainly a possibility for anyone with a little skill and the Black Box parking Brake unit.

If, when, the unit dies on my scenic, it's going to happen.
Mount points for the handle are there.
Need a centre console/tray to suit it...or cut a slot in mine.
May need to rig a handbrake switch into the off on light but unless the MOT regs require it would probably pass.
Set of manual cables and possibly add some supports for them (brackets and self tappers/bolts through floor pan)
Calipers are slightly different between Auto brake and manual but according to TRW technical, auto calipers on manual system isn't an issue, though it is the other way round.
Pay for a final diagnostic to remove the auto brake system from the computer and job done.

With a ten year old scenic and new/used parts available from ebay and scrappers choice of maybe a ton to put a manual system in or even couple of hundred to get the electric box rebuilt (or a grand if Renault replaces) brainer.
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
Qashqai 1.6 spark driven, Kia Sedona 2.9 TDI, Scenic II 15DCi 2004 (SORN) not quite RIP.
