If it's the old fashioned type where you turn a control ( rather than menu adjustments) it is more than likely an intermittant/noisy pot (potentiometer). Spraying it with switch cleaning may well cure it, possibly long term. Failing that you would need to fit a new control.
If its the newer menu style then it is almost certainly a loose connection somewhere. Start off with the easy ones like the speakers, then the stereo etc.
