Smile Re: Renault Clio 1.4 8v - Info on starting problems - HELPFUL!

Had the usual problems with Clio non starting. Replaced TDC sensor but still continued with intermittent not starting. After reading various posts on this subject, removed and cleaned all the contacts on the relays which sit just behind the near side front headlamp inside plastic cover shield and so far has solved my intermittent starting problem.

Apparently, the first black relay (the one nearest the engine) is the engine control relay. The middle black relay is the starter motor relay. The black relay (nearest the wing) is the engine coolant blower relay. The brown relay is the fuel pump relay (Read this relay information on another site)

An answer to another question frequently asked regarding immobiliser dashboard light - when first entering vehicle, the immobiliser light should be flashing, then when key placed in ignition and turned to first position before cranking, immobiliser light should turn solid red and then go out completely and then key can be turned to crank engine and start engine.

Hope this info helps others and is easier and cheaper option to try before entering into more complicated and expensive attempts to fix this non starting problem.
