Regarding going to Renault Main Dealers.
And this is a general criticism of all main dealers, Renault or otherwise.

They are supposed to be the experts. But often exhibit a surprising lack of expertise.
They are almost always at the top of the price structure both for service and parts.
They seem to have now embraced diagnostics so no matter what fault you go in with, it will require a a cost.
They have standard remedies. Nowadays with a misfire, it's often change all plugs and coils . Used to be change Plugs, points, distributer cap, rotor arm and HT leads.
Only when the diagnostic has failed and the standard remedy has failed do they seem prepared to move to plan B...which is think about the problem.
There are good ones, finding them is the issue.

As RW said. You are best to find a local garage who you can trust. Or a mobile mechanic. Important thing is that they are the type of mechanic who will think on the problem. If/when you find them, look after them. They are worth their weight in gold. And they will have relationships with other specialists. So less guesswork if you need a locksmith or autoelectrician.

Other option is to get yourself a Haynes manual and some tools. Many jobs are not difficult nor need special tools. Even doing your own simple jobs will save for every hour it's not in a garage
