the 6 pin unit and the 29 pin unit are interchangeable by just unplugging, there are four plastic clips that hold the units on to the motor and you will see that the motor only has a 2 pin plug. the guy on e Bay repairs broken cables but if you have a faulty regulator I'm afraid that it could get complicated (and expensive) as I found out, A main dealer could not identify which window mech I needed despite me showing them a photo of the 29 pin reg they could only find 2 mechs in their parts list a 2 pin and a 6 pin type, it was only the fact that my cable had snapped and the reg was ok that I got a 6 pin replacement and swapped the regulators. There are a couple of sellers on e Bay who will supply complete mechs but only the 2 or 6 pin types your only other chance is a breaker
Sorry for the delayed reply - I haven't been on the forum much lately.
If I can remove the electronics box as you say, do you know if the contents are "potted" or not? If not maybe there's a chance I can fix it (30 years + in electronics).
My problem is definately the electronics rather than the motor or the regulator. It's now got to the point where if I close the window fully it always
re-opens itself, and resetting does no good at all. Up to now I've had no success finding a used replacement, and frankly I'd rather wedge the window shut with a piece of wood than pay Renault their absurd prices!
