Dear those who were affected,
Having spoken in length with WSCC Trading Standards and Consumer Advise (who represent Trading Standards initially), all drivers can take their case forward under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 motorists - where repairs costs and "consequential" losses can be claimed. This may involve a small-claims court but I guess it the way forward if you are intending to recoup your costs!
Although you have to file the claim against the supplier - that is the garage / dealership who sold you the car!
The law apparently is on the side of the consumer....for once! Not sure how long the process is - but another option to consider!
Any thoughts from anyone? Anyone tried this approach?
