Re: Buying advice Megane II

Most Mk2 faults are IMHO, due to poor servicing or lack of understanding of the necessity of servicing.
Blocked drains causing multiple electrical failures for instance.
We had a Mk1 K4J 1.4 well thirsty. The Mk1 K4M 1.6 did 38MPG summer 36MPG Winter. The Mk2 1.6 K4M is averaging 34 MPG ATM, but I aint finished, got brakes to check when I get time / reliable weather.
In essence the 1.6 is more frugal as one doesn't have to paste it to get the same body weight moving. Renault allegedly will not entertain any MPG complaints unless below 30MPG, which considering the Mk2 is in a lower Co2 bracket than the Mk1 is terrible.
Must check:-
Cambelt, Water pump been changed.
VVT pulley NO Rattle on cold Start.
Soggy Carpets Nearside.
All windows work.
Both Keycards present & working.
Mileage History (as speedo's display fail) from MOT's
Mine says 40K really done about 70K.
Any dashboard nags, especially ABS, Airbags & handbrake. ALL MOT failures & expensive
