I had the light come on in my 2000 Laguna momentarily when I first bought it... but i switched the car off and back on and it just went away (i.e. came on and went out like it's supposed to).

When the light is on, it basically means that you don't have airbag protection in the even of a crash.

Word of warning though, if you are going to be pulling any wiring apart, make sure you disconnect the battery at least 15 minutes before poking about with airbag wiring to discharge the system.
