Yup, it took a lot of cutting compound to restore the bonnet, but I did it.

Water-based paint is so much more fragile, it's unbelievable the extent and speed that the damage can develop into.

If you can imagine painting the outside of your house with emulsion, then spraying a fine layer of lacquer to give it a water-resistant shell, you aren't far wrong.

Durable, it most certainly isn't.
